Ober-Mossau is a district of the municipality of Mossautal in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse .
geography
The Waldhufendorf is located in the Odenwald in the Hessian red sandstone area in the Geo-Nature Park Bergstrasse-Odenwald am Mossaubach . State road 3260 runs through the village .
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1253. Around this time, a church was built in the village by the Johanniter . In the Middle Ages there were ore mines in the village.
Territorial reform
On December 31, 1971, Ober-Mossau was incorporated into the new Mossautal community.

Economy and Infrastructure
There is a children's playground and a kindergarten in the former school .
Companies
The largest employer in Ober-Mossau is the local Schmucker brewery with around 90 employees. In 1780 the Hirschwirt Nikolaus Schönberger founded a private brewery . 20 years later, the Odenwald farmer with the black three-cornered hat becomes the trademark of the brewery and beer. In 1895 Johann Gottlieb Schmucker married into the company and gave the brewery his name.
traffic
In the valley floor of the Mossau brook , the state road L 3260 runs through the village and connects the federal road 460 in the south with the federal road 47 in the north. In the local area, the district road K 50 branches off to the east and leads via Steinbuch and Steinbach to Michelstadt . The county road K 50 branches off to the west and leads via Rohrbach to Unter-Easter .
