Güttersbach is a district of the Mossautal community in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse .

geography

The tourist town surrounded by forest is located in the Odenwald , in the Hessian red sandstone area. The village is located on the 2.4 km long Güttersbach , which takes up the Mornsbach coming from the west and then joins the Streitbach to the Marbach in Hüttenthal .

history

The village "Gunderspach" was first mentioned in a document in 1290. At the same time, a spring church was mentioned. A mill was first mentioned in 1424.

The place was owned by the Erbach taverns , first on the Erbach-Reichenberg line, later on the Erbach-Fürstenau line. In 1806 he came to the Grand Duchy of Hesse (Province of Starkenburg, Amt Fürstenau) in the course of mediatization due to the Rhine Federation Act, in 1919 to the People's State of Hesse and in 1945 to the State of Hesse .

The remains of Güttersbach Castle were discovered above the Mosselbach in 1949 .

Territorial reform

On August 1, 1972 Güttersbach was incorporated into the municipality of Mossautal as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

Historical place names

The spelling of the place name can be found in historical documents in different forms: Gunderspach (1290), Guderspach (1387), Gudirspach (1399), Guderspach (1443), Gudderßbach (1506) and Guderßbach (1522).

Attractions

In the center of the village is the medieval spring church , which among other things houses a single-manual baroque organ from 1740 and which belongs to the Protestant parish.

Economy and Infrastructure

The county road K 47 runs through Güttersbach in a general north-south direction, which connects the B 460 in the north with the state road L 3120 in the south.

There is a small outdoor swimming pool in the center of the village .
