With 168 inhabitants, Hembach is the smallest district of the Brombachtal community in the Odenwald district in southern Hesse .

Geographical location

Hembach is a place in the west of the Brombachtal municipality and is located in the headwaters of the Hembach , just east of the watershed between Gersprenz and Mümling and one kilometer north of the Spreng in the Böllsteiner Odenwald .

history

The existence of the place is documented under the name Henebach since 1443. Hembach belonged to the Breuberg estate until 1806 . Along the watershed west of the village went one as High Street and Old Street Erbacher called old route .

On October 1, 1971, on the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse , Hembach voluntarily merged with four neighboring communities to form the municipality of Brombachtal. Hembach is one of three Brombachtal districts for which, according to the main statute, a local district with a local advisory board and local mayor was set up.

Culture

A two-story half-timbered house built in 1907, the residential building of a large four-sided courtyard, is a listed building.

The second weekend in September is a parish fair .

Transport and infrastructure

To the west of the locality of Hembach, the district road K 211 passes, which connects to the nearby federal road 47 , the Nibelungenstrasse , to the south . To the east, the K 88 leads to Kirchbrombach , the core town of Brombachtal.
