Animal Welfare Association
There is a specialized animal welfare association for many animal species or animal breeds as well as associations that are generally committed to animal welfare . Animal protection associations can operate regionally or nationwide, individual associations operate internationally. Working in the association for animal welfare is more widespread in western industrialized countries than in developing countries or poorer nations, such as the eastern European countries, where animal welfare is not very widespread.
history
The world's first animal welfare association was the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals , which was founded in England in 1824. The Wuerttemberg pastor Christian Adam Dann (1758–1837) campaigned so intensely - with Christian justification - for the good treatment of animals that his friend, the song writer and pastor Albert Knapp , founded Germany's first animal welfare association a few months after Dann's death in December 1838 founded. According to some sources, Ludwig Reichenbach is said to have founded the Dresden Animal Welfare Association in 1834 . The association that still exists today is called the Tierschutzverein Dresden 1839 und Umgebung eV Ignaz Franz Castelli founded the Vienna Animal Welfare Association in 1846 as the first animal welfare association in Austria .
Regional associations
Regional animal protection associations have existed in Germany since the middle of the 19th century. These associations generally operate regionally limited animal welfare for all animal species and mostly operate an animal shelter for this purpose . Many German animal welfare associations are grouped together in the German Animal Welfare Association.
National clubs
National associations often specialize in certain animal species (e.g. guinea pigs ), certain breeds (e.g. bull terriers ), certain main groups ( sled dogs or polar dogs ) or certain subject areas (e.g. factory farming ).
International clubs
Associations that operate across national borders often work together using the Internet , and they can be specialized in both subject and race (e.g. Internationaler Tierschutzverein Grenzenlos e.V.).
