history

First mention of December 29, 1012
Disseler bridge

Settlement of the area around Ilbeshausen began between the 7th and 9th centuries. According to an older interpretation of the Bonifatiusweg , the funeral procession of the murdered Bonifatius on the way from Mainz to Fulda led past where the Disseler Bridge stands today below Ilbeshausen . The Weinstrasse ran over this bridge from Steinau an der Strasse via Herbstein to Northern Hesse , an important cross-connection from Mainfranken to Northern Germany at the time .

The oldest known mention was made in a document dated 29 December 1012 in the King Henry II. The Abbey of Fulda gives the forest tinder Hart. In addition to Iliuuineshusun (Ilbeshausen), this deed of gift names ufe Creginfelt ( Crainfeld ), Warmuntessneida ( Bermuthshain ), Widenaho ( Weidenau ) and Calbaho ( Kalbach ) as border points of the donated area.

Until September 1376, the owners of the settlement changed several times. Then Landgrave Hermann II of Hesse bought the place. Since then, Ilbeshausen has been in Hesse. Together with Crainfeld, Grebenhain and Bermuthshain, it belonged to the Crainfeld court , which existed until 1821.

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Ilbeshausen in 1830:

"Ilbeshausen (L. Bez. Lauterbach) evangel. Parish village; is located in Vogelsberg on the Altfell and 3 St. from Lauterbach. This place, which is immediately sovereign, has 148 houses, 845 Protestant residents, as well as 8 mills. The inhabitants are very active in line weaving and are engaged in the yarn and linen trade, as well as fattening cattle and selling them. The town of Arnsburg was near the village. - Ilbeshausen appears in 1013 under the name Iliuvineshusen , and in 1441 Hermann Riedesel received the same, along with others, from the Abbey of Fuld to improve his fiefdom. "

Hochwaldhausen was founded in 1903 by Jean Berlit as a health resort for the follow-up treatment of patients from Bad Salzschlirf . Also at the instigation of Jean Berlit, the construction of a large convalescent home of the AOK Kassel took place in 1928 . Since 1990 the expanded building complex has housed the Vogelsberg Clinic, a specialist clinic for psychotherapy and psychosomatics.

In 1956, the then still independent community of Ilbeshausen was awarded the title climatic health resort by the state of Hesse , which it is still allowed to use today.

From 1912 to 1929 two major reform schools , the Dürerschule and the Bergschule , were located in Hochwaldhausen. In 1922, Klaus and Erika Mann were among the students at the mountain school for a short time .

As a result of the regional reform in Hesse , the community of Ilbeshausen was incorporated into the newly formed large community of Grebenhain on December 31, 1971. The district of Ilbeshausen-Hochwaldhausen is the most populous district of the municipality with around 1,100 inhabitants.

Territorial history and administration

The following list gives an overview of the territories in which Ilbeshausen was located and the administrative units to which it was subordinate:

Courts since 1803

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Gießen” was set up as a court of second instance for the province of Upper Hesse . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or landlords and thus the Lißberg office was responsible for Ilbeshausen. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The second instance for the patrimonial courts were the civil law firms. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the founding of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance 1821–1822 were transferred to the newly created regional and city courts as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. Ilbeshausen a lot in the judicial district of the " Landgericht Altenschlirf ". In the course of the reorganization of the judicial districts in the province of Upper Hesse carried out in 1853 , the seat of the regional court was to be relocated from Altenschlirf to Herbstein.

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act with effect from October 1, 1879, as a result of which the previous grand ducal Hessian regional courts were replaced by local courts in the same place, while the newly created regional courts now functioned as higher courts, the name was changed to "Amtsgericht Herbstein" and assigned to the district of the regional court of Giessen .

On July 1, 1957, the Herbstein District Court lost its independence and finally became a branch of the Lauterbach District Court after it was already at the end of the Second World War . On July 1, 1968, this branch was also closed. On January 1, 2005, the Lauterbach District Court was repealed as a full court and became a branch of the Alsfeld District Court . On January 1, 2012, this branch was also closed. The superordinate instances are now the Regional Court of Giessen , the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main and the Federal Court of Justice as the last instance.

coat of arms

Ilbeshausen coat of arms
Blazon : "In the silver shield with a red shield border the black bar image of the so-called Wild Man ."

In April 1952 the municipality of Ilbeshausen was granted the right to use a coat of arms by the Hessian State Ministry.

Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms shows the stylized replica of the Wild Man , a half-timbered construction also used on the well-known Teufelsmühle .

After the regional reform, this coat of arms, together with elements of the coats of arms of the districts of Crainfeld and Herchenhain, was the template for the coat of arms of the large municipality of Grebenhain, whose core municipality had not had its own coat of arms until then.
