Wallenrod is a district of the district town of Lauterbach in the Vogelsberg district in central Hesse .

The place is located in Upper Hesse and until December 2011 had a train station on the Vogelsbergbahn . State roads 3144 and 3165 meet in Wallenrod .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1294 with the place name Waldenrode . The church was built in 1728. In 1806 the place became Hessian. Wallenrod has had a dairy since 1902 .

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Wallenrod in 1830:

"Wallenrod (L. Bez. Lauterbach) evangel. Parish village; lies in Vogelsberg, 1 St. from Lauterbach, and belongs to the Baron von Riedesel. There are 130 houses and 759 residents, all of whom are Protestant, and who are heavily involved in processing the flax. Wallenrod has 1 church and 1 schoolhouse, as well as a very fertile district. "

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Wallenrod was incorporated into the district town of Lauterbach on December 31, 1971 on a voluntary basis . For Wallenrod, as for the other municipalities incorporated by the regional reform, a local district with a local advisory board and local chief was set up.
