Heblos is a village in Upper Hesse with approx. 350 inhabitants and part of the district town of Lauterbach in the Vogelsberg district in Central Hesse .

history

Heblos is first mentioned in a document in 812 as Hebenoldes. This means something like "residence of Epanolt". Even then, the village was owned by the Riedesel Freiherr zu Eisenbach before it became Hessian in 1806. In 1711 a small half-timbered church was built in Heblos, as can be found in many Vogelsberg villages.

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Mainzlar in 1830:

“Heblos (L. Bez. Lauterbach) evangel. Branch village; is located in Vogelsberg 12 St. von Lauterbach and belongs to the Baron von Riedesel, has 31 houses and 211 Protestant inhabitants, like a grinding mill. - Heblos is occasionally mentioned the inauguration of the church at Schlitz, September 11th 812, under the name Ebenoldes , and was assigned to this church. "

In 1856 the place had about 240 inhabitants, in 1910 there were 267 Protestant citizens. According to a list from 1856, there was no forest. There were small and medium-sized breweries and "wealthy farmers". Cattle breeding, dairy farming and fruit growing were practiced, with legumes playing an important role in nutrition. It was not without reason that people called the Heblos farmers “lentil farmers”. There was a mill by the Brenner water . Rimlos belonged to Heblos for many decades before it became independent after the Second World War .

In 1948, both villages had a total of 490 inhabitants. In addition to a few larger farms, the village had two joineries and a bricklayer's business. Heblos and Rimlos belonged to the Lauterbach parish. In 1890 a school building was built in which fifty children were taught one-class in 1910.

Territorial reform

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , Heblos was incorporated into the district town of Lauterbach on December 31, 1971 on a voluntary basis . For Heblos, as for the other municipalities incorporated by the regional reform, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.
