Wohnfeld is a district of the town of Ulrichstein in the Vogelsberg district in Central Hesse .

Geographical location

The village is located west of the center of Ulrichstein in the Vogelsberg . The state roads 3166 and 3407 meet in Wohnfeld.

history

The village was probably settled between 600 and 1100. This is indicated by the place name ending "-feld". The oldest known written mention of the place comes from 1287 under the name Woneuelt . In the Middle Ages the place had four mills. Today the Hahnmühle still exists below Wohnfeld.

The church was built in the 16th century as a branch church. It was renovated several times and later demolished because it was in disrepair. In 1807 a new church was inaugurated. 405 people lived in the village in 1817, more than today.

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Wohnfeld in 1830:

"Wohnfeld (L. Bez. Schotten) evangel. Branch village; is located in Vogelsberg, 2 1 ⁄ 2  St. from Schotten, has 84 houses and 424 Protestant residents, as well as 1 church and 5 grinding and oil mills. - According to a document from 1353 Heinrich von Isenburg enfeoffed von Sassen with the tithe. On September 10th 1812 a fire set 12 houses, 10 barns and 7 stables in ashes, for which the fire compensation 5487 fl. 30 kr. amounted to."

On December 31, 1971, the place was incorporated into the city of Ulrichstein as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

Courts since 1803

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Gießen” was set up as a court of second instance for the province of Upper Hesse . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or landlords and thus the Ulrichstein office was responsible for Wohnfeld. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The second instance for the patrimonial courts were the civil law firms. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the founding of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance 1821–1822 were transferred to the newly created regional and city courts as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. Wohnfeld a lot in the judicial district of the " Landgericht Schotten ". By order of the Grand Ducal Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Justice, Wohnfeld was assigned to the district of the newly established Ulrichstein District Court on December 1, 1838 .

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act with effect from October 1, 1879, as a result of which the previous grand ducal Hessian regional courts were replaced by local courts in the same place, while the newly created regional courts now functioned as higher courts, the name was changed to "Ulrichstein Local Court" and allocation to the district of the regional court of Giessen .

In 1943 the Ulrichstein District Court lost its independence and became a branch of the Schotten District Court . With effect from July 1, 1968 the local court of Schotten was dissolved and Wohnfeld came to the judicial district of the local court of Alsfeld . The superordinate instances are now, the regional court Gießen , the higher regional court Frankfurt am Main and the federal court as last instance.
