District of Schlitz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The district of Schlitz was a district in the province of Upper Hesse of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . It existed from 1821 to 1838.

history

requirements

With the Rhine Confederation Act of 1806, state sovereignty over the Grafschaft Schlitz fell to the Grand Duchy of Hesse. This incorporated the area into the Principality of Upper Hesse (from 1816: "Province of Upper Hesse"). The Schlitz Office was formed from the County of Schlitz . All this happened with the restriction that the count continued to exercise sovereign rights in administration and jurisdiction .

Facility

From 1820 administrative reforms took place in the Grand Duchy of Hesse: At the lower level, in the offices , jurisdiction and administration were separated and the offices dissolved. District districts were created for the administrative tasks previously performed by the offices, and district courts for the first instance jurisdiction. The solution for the office of Schlitz was then quite simple: The administrative tasks that had previously been carried out by the office were assigned to the newly formed district of Schlitz, the tasks of jurisdiction to the newly installed district court of Schlitz . The local jurisdiction was congruent with that of the dissolved office.

Further development

In the reform of 1832, the state amalgamated administrative districts into circles . Because of the extensive rights of the counts in the district of Schlitz, this was not easily possible here. The district of Schlitz was initially retained.

Years later, however, the state and the count were able to agree on the "nationalization" of the administration: On June 1, 1838, the count renounced the administrative and jurisdiction he was entitled to in the county, with a few exceptions in the area of forestry and hunting in the own groves.

The End

The state now completely in its hands the sovereignty in the district of Schlitz, subsequently dissolved the district of Schlitz on February 1, 1839 and assigned its communities to the district of Alsfeld .
