Willi Görich

Willi Görich (born July 7, 1907 in Frankfurt am Main ; † February 9, 1991 ) was a Hessian state historian .

He grew up in Herford and studied history , prehistory and early history , folklore , art history and geology in Frankfurt am Main , Königsberg , Tübingen and, above all, in Marburg . He received his doctorate in 1948 at the University of Marburg under Friedrich Küch and Edmund E. Stengel with a dissertation on early medieval streets and castles in Upper Hesse . Afterwards it worked as a historian and until 1972 as curator at the Hessian State Office for Historical Regional Studies in Marburg . He was honorary chairman of the Association for Hessian History and Regional Studies , Marburg Department. His work focused in particular castles - and Altwegeforschung , settlement and urban history and the Middle Ages .
