Eichelsdorf is the second largest district of Nidda in the Hessian Wetteraukreis .
Geographical location
The place is in the northern Wetterau on the southwestern edge of the Vogelsberg . Eichelsdorf is located north of Nidda at the confluence of the Eichelbach and Nidda rivers .
history
The oldest known documents about Eichelsdorf date from 1187, when a church was mentioned in Eigelesdorph . It was badly damaged by fire in 1656.
The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Eichelsdorf in 1830:
"Eichelsdorf (L. Bez. Nidda) evangel. Parish village; is located on the Nidda 1 1 ⁄ 2 hours from the city of Nidda, has 112 houses and 638 Protestant residents, including 70 farmers, 41 artisans and 10 day laborers; the peasants mostly do the nailing trade; there are also 6 nail smiths, 4 shoemakers, 3 line weavers, etc. among the actual craftsmen. "
