history

The oldest known written mention of Wallernhausen took place in 1187 under the name Wanoldeshusen . It was not mentioned as Waldradehusen on April 5, 1299. In 1299 a pleban is mentioned. In 1359 the place had its own parish . In 1493, the Landgraves of the Landgraviate of Hesse donated the place to the Johanniterkommende in Nidda. From 1787 the place belonged to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt , to the office of Nidda . The baroque church replaced the previous medieval building in 1740.

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Wallernhausen in 1830:

"Wallernhausen (L. Bez. Nidda) evangel. Parish village; is 12 St. from Nidda, has 132 houses and 682 inhabitants, all of whom are Protestant, such as 1 church, 1 new school building and 2 courtyards, namely Bieberberg and Finkenloch. 126 of the inhabitants belong to the peasant class and 12 are engaged in civil trades. - Wallernhausen already had a parish church in the 14th century. "

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the previously independent municipalities of Bad Salzhausen, Borsdorf, Fauerbach bei Nidda, Geiß-Nidda, Harb, Kohden, Michelnau, Ober-Lais, Ober-Schmitten, Ober-Widdersheim, Stornfels, merged on December 1, 1970 Ulfa, Unter-Schmitten, Wallernhausen and the city of Nidda to form the new city of Nidda.

On July 13, 2014, streets and houses were so badly damaged due to a storm that financial aid was applied for from the state for the place.
