Valle Antigorio
The Valle Antigorio (also Val Antigorio , dt. Formerly also Ashen Valley) is a valley in the northern Italian region of Piedmont . It extends from Chioso in a southerly direction to Domodossola . The northern continuation of the valley is called Val Formazza , the southern continuation Val d'Ossola . The Toce flows through the Valle Antigorio . It includes the municipalities of Crodo , Baceno and Premia from south to north . In Baceno, the Valle Dèvero branches off to the northwest, the uppermost part of which is the much-visited regional parkAlpe Dèvero forms. The Uriezzo Glacier Park is well developed for hiking .
The name of the valley is probably related to the mountain peak Gorio (also: Monte Forno), which - clearly visible from the south - occupies the ridge between Valle Dèvero and Valle Antigorio.
In the Valle Antigorio there are numerous gneiss quarries, which became known worldwide under the regionally specific term Serizzo . The extraction of gneiss, a hard rock , is one of the important economic foundations of the region and the neighboring Swiss areas. With the town of Crodo, the valley also has a traditional bathing resort with warm springs.
