Sandra Reemer , actually Barbara Alexandra Reemer , (born October 17, 1950 in Bandung , Indonesia ; † June 6, 2017 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch singer and presenter with Indonesian roots.

Life

Sandra Reemer began making music as a child. She was just eleven years old when in 1962 her first singles were simply released under her first name “Sandra”. By 1970 around two dozen other singles had appeared.

Reemer represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 1972 in Edinburgh together with Dries Holten . As “Sandra & Andres” they reached fourth place with their hit Als het om de liefde gaat . As Sandra Reemer she was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1976 in The Hague ; with The Party's Over she reached 9th place. As "Xandra" she took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 1979 for the third time for the Netherlands; the song Colorado made it to number 12 in Jerusalem . Colorado was written by the duo Bolland & Bolland . The songs on the accompanying LP Xandra were mainly written and produced by Bolland & Bolland.

From the mid-1980s she was also active as a presenter on Dutch television programs and presented the music show De show van de maand and was an assistant at Wedden, dat ..? .

Sandra Reemer died of breast cancer on June 6, 2017 in Amsterdam .
