Glennis Grace (2010)

Glennis Grace (born June 19, 1978 in Amsterdam ; real name Glenda Hulita Elisabeth Batta ) is a Dutch singer who took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 . She should also have appeared at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 as an interval act, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

Career

Grace first became known to a wider public in 1994 when she won the Soundmixshow talent competition at the age of 16 with a cover version of Whitney Houston . Despite this success, she did not make her breakthrough as a singer at the time. However, in 2005 she made a comeback when she titled My Impossible Dream , the Nationaal Songfestival won the Netherlands and thus for the Euro Vision Song Contest 2005 in Kiev qualified. Here she made it to the semifinals. The album Glennis , released in 2008, contains only tracks in Dutch, on which Grace mostly also worked as a songwriter. With Als Je Slaapt she was able to get into the single TOP 10 for the first time.

After a TV appearance in 2011, their cover version of the title Afscheid was performed by the band Volumia! a number 1 hit and both the live album One Night Only and the 2012 studio album This Is My Voice reached number 2 on the Dutch album charts.

In 2018, Grace took part in the 13th season of the American talent show America's Got Talent . In the "Auditions" she appeared with the song Run To You by Whitney Houston. With her appearance she reached the next round.
