Douwe Bob
Douwe Bob Posthuma (born December 12, 1992 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch singer-songwriter .
Live and act
Douwe Bob is the son of Simon Posthuma, a member of the designer group The Fool . He started playing the piano at the age of six, concentrating on classical music and jazz, and the guitar at 14. As a singer, he was influenced by folk, pop and country music from the 1950s to the mid-1970s.
In 2012 he took part in the casting show De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland and won the competition initiated by Giel Beelen. After the competition, his song Multicolored Angels reached number 17 on the Dutch charts. His debut album Born In A Storm was released on May 3, 2013, with the majority of the tracks on the album being created during a stay in Morocco with Matthijs van Duijvenbode. In late 2013, a documentary called Whatever Forever: Douwe Bob was released , depicting his relationship with his father Simon Posthuma and presented at IDFA .
In January 2015 he released the track Hold Me , which was produced in collaboration with Anouk . In February he announced his second album Pass It On , which was released on May 15, 2015 under his new label Universal Music Group .
On September 22nd, 2015 AVROTROS announced that Douwe Bob will represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm . On March 4, 2016, his contribution Slow Down was presented. He is the first male solo performer for the Netherlands since 1992. He reached 153 points and was 11th.
Douwe Bob is avowedly bisexual.
