The Fool was a Dutch designer group that had a major impact on the pop and rock music scene of the 1960s with its colorful, psychedelic creations . The name is derived from the Tarot Card The Fool (Engl. The Fool ) from.

The founding members were the Dutch artists Simon Posthuma and Marijke Koger, who were discovered by the photographer Karl Ferris in a hippie commune on the island of Ibiza , Spain . Ferris sent photographs of clothes that Postuma and Kroger had designed to London. After the photos were published in the London newspaper The Times and generated a lot of media coverage, Ferris brought The Fool to London to open a studio together with the designer group. The Fool designed clothing and psychedelic art, Ferris published photographs. The designer Barry Finch and the musician Josje Leeger later joined the group. The latter was only involved in later recordings of "The Fool".

  • Costumes worn by the Beatles on the 1967 television broadcast of "All You Need Is Love" . Also of "The Fool" comes the painting of of John Lennon played in the transmission Gibson J160E - acoustic guitar .
  • A large, three-story, colorful mural on the facade of the Beatles' Apple Boutique on London's Baker Street. At that time, Apple Botique also carried products from "The Fool". Due to protests from neighbors, the wall painting was later removed.
