International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam
The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) has been held annually in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam since 1988 . It is the world's largest film festival for documentaries .
Programming
The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam has several competition programs for documentary films. Numerous side series outside of the competition complete the program, including a program with world premieres of Dutch documentary films, a panorama section, the Kids & Docs program with children's films as well as retrospectives and work shows. Public discussions and workshops will be held as part of the festival's supporting program.
In addition to the festival itself, the IDFA operates three other institutions. Docs for Sale is a major international film market. The FORUM is a marketplace to find funding partners for documentary films. Finally, the Jan Vrijman Fund supports documentary film productions and festivals in developing countries.
