David Maysles
David Maysles (born January 10, 1931 in Brookline , Massachusetts , † January 3, 1987 in New York City ) was an American cameraman and director who, along with his older brother Albert, was one of the most important actors in American documentary films.
Life
Maysles worked as a cameraman and director in the field of documentation from the early 1960s, working closely with his brother. The two founded their own production company, Maysles Films , which still exists today.
At the 1974 Academy Awards , Maysles and his brother were nominated for an Oscar in the Best Documentary Short Film category.
Maysles was married and had two children. He died of a stroke.
