Hearts of Soul was a Dutch trio of girls from the city of Harderwijk . It consisted of the three sisters Bianca, Stella and Patricia Maessen and entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 1970 .

The three sisters initially worked as background singers in the 1960s. In 1968 they received the offer to perform under their own name.

In 1969 the trio's debut album was released. In the same year, the trio released their first single Oh what a Price, which, like the follow-up single Everybody Goes for Joe, was not a great sales success. It was not until 1970 with the third publication Fat Jack that the group was able to place itself in the Dutch charts.

Also in 1970 the three singers took part in the Dutch preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Waterman written by Pieter Goemans , which they also won with six points against the other nine participants. They represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Amsterdam , where they ended up in midfield and came seventh among twelve participants. Since groups were not allowed in the competition at that time, Bianca and Stella were officially listed as Patricia backing singers.

Despite this success, the trio did not achieve the commercial breakthrough they had hoped for. In 1972 the single It's Great Fun once again attracted a little more attention from the audience, but did not make it into the charts. In 1972 Hearts of Soul released their last single, I Can Hear You Calling .

In the mid-1970s, the three sisters moved to Belgium and founded the band Dream Express together with Luc Smets , with which they again took part in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in 1977. They were also seen in the ARD film Das Millionenspiel in 1970 .

Stella Maessen later published some solo recordings under the name Stella Mason or appeared again at the ESC under her first name.
