Milly Scott (* 29. December 1933 in Den Helder as Marion Henriette Louise Molly ) is a Dutch singer and television actress with Surinamese roots. She is the first black artist to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest .
Milly Scott, who was previously a well-known jazz club singer and released the single Up a Lazy River / Crawdad Song with Bob Kaper's Beale Street Seven in 1963 , won the Dutch preliminary round and was therefore allowed to play for the 1966 Eurovision de la Chanson Grand Prix in Luxembourg Netherlands compete. With the humorous hit Fernando en Filippo , however, she only reached 15th place. She remained active as a jazz singer after the competition. In 1969 the gospel LP It's Me, Oh Lord! with the choir The Rivals. Ten years later, Scott released a disco version of the Miriam Makeba classic Pata Pata .
Occasionally she worked as an actress. Scott's most famous role was that detainees Baby Miller in the prison series Vrouwenvleugel radio station RTL 4 mid-1990s.
