Getty Kaspers
Getty Kaspers (born March 5, 1948 in Graz ) is a Dutch singer who grew up in Austria . In 1975 she won the Eurovision Song Contest with the band Teach-In for the Netherlands .
Life
Kaspers was born in Graz as the daughter of a Styrian and a Dutch woman. However, her mother gave her to a children's home. Until she was 16 years old, she was raised by a foster family in the eastern Styrian town of Weiz . Then her birth mother took her to the Netherlands and she received the Dutch passport.
At 18, Kaspers began a singing career and joined the group Teach-In, which was looking for a singer. The songs "Fly Away" and "In The Summernight" hit the Dutch charts.
A year after ABBA's victory in the Song Contest, Teach-In took part in Stockholm and won the European singing competition in 1975 with the song “Ding-a-dong”. A little later, Kaspers left the formation, she felt burned out. After a short solo career, she ended this too. Getty Kaspers moved to Portugal, married a Dutchman, went back to Weiz. When her husband died, she moved to the Netherlands, where she still lives today.
