Mitja Schäfer (born February 27, 1980 in Cologne ) is a former German soccer player . He was both a defender and a midfielder and played for SC Fortuna Köln from the 2010/11 season and until the 2012/13 season .
Career
Until he was 19, Schäfer played for TuS Höhenhaus , a club from Cologne-Höhenhaus . From 1998 to 2004 he played for the amateurs of 1. FC Köln . From 2004 to 2006 he was under contract with LR Ahlen, today's Rot Weiss Ahlen. After the descent of the Ahlen in the regional league , he moved to Erzgebirge Aue . In Aue he was rarely used in the 2006/07 season, so that he moved to the second division rot-Weiss Essen for the 2007/08 season. From 2008 to 2010, Schäfer played for Wuppertaler SV Borussia under his former coach Christoph John . On June 14, 2010 he announced his move to the NRW league team Fortuna Köln , where he signed a two-year contract and rose to the Regionalliga West in 2010/11 . In Cologne he was team captain for a long time and played his last game for Cologne Fortuna on January 28, 2013. In that game, scored an own goal in the 30th minute.
