Hans Staub (Romanist)

Hans Staub (born February 27, 1931 in Zurich ) is a Swiss Romance scholar , comparativeist , literary scholar and translator who worked in Germany.

life and work

Dust received his doctorate in 1958 from the University of Zurich under Emil Staiger with the dissertation Laterna Magica. Studies on the problem of inwardness in literature: Kierkegaard, Moritz, Jean Paul, Nerval, Proust, Rilke (Zurich 1960) and habilitated there in 1966 with Georges Poulet with the font Le curieux désir. Scève et Peletier du Mans poètes de la connaissance (Geneva 1967). From 1967 to 1989 he was a full professor for Romance philology at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . Frank-Rutger Hausmann is one of his students .
