Emelie Öhrstig (born February 27, 1978 in Borås ) is a former Swedish cross-country skier and cyclist .

Career

Emelie Öhrstig was junior vice world champion on mountain bikes in 1996 . In 1999 she won the Nordic championships on both mountain bike and road. In addition to cycling, she had also done cross-country skiing for a few years and then decided entirely on winter sports. In cross-country skiing, she first appeared internationally at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1997 in Canmore and came in 27th place over 5 km classic. In the following years until 2002, she mainly took part in FIS races . In March 1998 she ran her first World Cup race in Falun , which she finished in 70th place over 5 km freestyle. She got her first World Cup points in March 2000 in Oslo with 29th place in the sprint. In February 2002 she won the Tjejvasan . At the beginning of the 2002/03 season she came at the World Cup in Clusone with eighth place in the sprint for the first time under the top ten. In the further course of the season she reached World Cup points in all other sprint races. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Val di Fiemme , she finished 21st in the sprint. At the end of the season she came in the sprint with eighth place in Drammen and fifth in Oslo again under the top ten and thus reached 11th place in the Sprint World Cup. At the beginning of the following season she achieved ninth place in the sprint and seventh place in the team sprint in Düsseldorf . In December 2003 in Toblach, together with Sofia Domeij , she just missed the podium with fourth place in the team sprint. During the season, as in the previous season, she won World Cup points in all sprints and was among the top ten three times. As in the previous year, she finished the season in 11th place in the Sprint World Cup. Also in the season she was Swedish champion in the relay with her club Piteå Elit SK .

Early in the season 2004/05 was Öhrstig in Dusseldorf , together with Anna Dahlberg fourth in the team sprint. In seven sprint competitions in the World Cup, she came six times in the top ten. In December 2004 she took fourth place in Asiago, her best individual result. The following month she reached her first and only podium finish in the World Cup in Pragelato with second place Anna Dahlberg in the team sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in 2005 , she won the gold medal in the sprint. She was also ninth in the team sprint together with Anna Dahlberg. At the Swedish championships in 2005 she won over 15 km, in the sprint and, as in the previous year, with the relay. At the end of the season she finished 25th in the overall World Cup and ninth in the Sprint World Cup. After 44th place in the sprint at the beginning of the 2005/06 season in Vernon , she was eighth in the sprint races in Nové Město , Otepää and Davos and seventh in Oberstdorf. At the highlight of the season, the 2006 Winter Olympics in Pragelato, she was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the freestyle sprint, finishing in 22nd place. In the classic distance race over 10 km, she achieved 47th place. At the end of the season he scored points in all three World Cup sprints and came fourth in Borlänge . As in the previous year, she finished 25th and ninth in the overall World Cup and in the Sprint World Cup. She ended her career after the 2005/06 season.

Öhrstig took part in 32 World Cup sprints and got 31 times in the points and 19 times in the top ten. In her 14 World Cup participations in endurance races, she did not score any points. Her best result was 35th place in January 2003 in Otepää in the 15 km mass start race.
