Tjejvasan
The Tjejvasan is a cross-country skiing women race over 30 km in classic technique, which has been held in connection with the Wasa run since 1988. The race traditionally takes place at the end of February on the first Saturday of the Wasalauf week and thus eight days before the main run over 90 km and takes place between Oxberg and Mora on the last part of the Wasalauf trail. In the first edition of the race in 1988, 1550 women skiers started. The number of participants has now risen to over 8,000.
Participation in the Wasalauf was (with the exception of the first race in 1922) until 1980 only men allowed. It was not until 1981 that women were officially allowed to start again in the Wasalauf.
