Kerrin Ruland "Karen" Petty (born January 6, 1970 in Townshend ) is a former American - Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Petty, who started for the IFK Mora , ran her first of a total of 30 individual World Cup races in December 1993 in Santa Caterina Valfurva , which she finished classically in 81st place over 5 km. At the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , she finished 59th over 5 km classic. The following year she came at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Thunder Bay on 64th place over 5 km classic, 39th place over 15 km classic and 33rd place over 30 km freestyle. In January 1996 she reached Lake Placid with third place over 5 km classic and 10 km classic, her first and only podium places in the Continental Cup . In 1996 and 1997 she won the Tjejvasan . In addition, she became Swedish champion over 30 km in 1996 . In December 1996 she got her first and only World Cup points in Oberstdorf with the 29th place over 10 km classic. Her best placings at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano were 41st place over 30 km freestyle and 15th place with the relay. She completed her last World Cup race in March 1998 in Falun , which she finished in 69th place over 5 km freestyle. In the same month she won the Wasalauf .
