Jarl Kulle (born February 27, 1927 in Rebbelberga / Ängelholm ( Sweden ); †  October 3, 1997 in Gregersboda, Roslagen / Uppland ) was a Swedish actor .

Life

Kulle was married to baroness Anna Marie Louise Hermelin from 1960 to 1968. With her he had the two children Maria (1960) and Anna (1963–1979). He then had the daughter Mia Kulle Rydsjö (1970). In his second marriage, he was married to actress Anne Nord in 1976 until his death . With her he had two more children, Hanna (1978) and Linda (1983).

Kulle is widely recognized as one of the most important Swedish actors of his generation. For most of his career he was a stage actor , where he mostly took on the leading roles in classical theater , as in Eugene O'Neill's One Long Day's Journey into the Night , in August Strindberg's Gustav III. and Shakespeare's King Lear .

Kulle also worked with the great Swedish director Ingmar Bergman , both on stage and in film (e.g. in The Smile of a Summer Night , 1955).

In 1959 Kulle took another step on the corporate ladder when he played Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady at the Oskarstheater in Stockholm . He received high praise for the acting and singing as well as for the dancing performances, which he described somewhat disparagingly as "jumping around". He became known to a wide audience with this role, so his engagements covered a wider spectrum. In addition to romantic film roles, he also played leading roles in musicals and comedies at Stockholm's private theaters.

Kulle had a somewhat declamatory style that helped him take on the lead role in Nyårsklockan for Georg Rydebergs in Stockholm's Skansen in 1983 .
