Michał Wiłkomirski

Michał Wiłkomirski (born February 27, 1902 in Moscow , † December 13, 1989 in Podkowa Leśna ) was a Polish violinist, violist and music teacher.

Wiłkomirski had violin lessons from his father Alfred Wiłkomirski since he was seven . From 1919 he gave concerts as a soloist with the Warsaw Philharmonic . With his siblings Maria and Kazimierz he formed the Wiłkomirski Trio , and he and his father were members of the Trio Rossyjski .

From 1927 to 1941 he lived in Chicago as a teacher, violin soloist and chamber musician; Among other things, he was a member of the Russian Trio there for ten years . For health reasons he interrupted his musical career in 1941. He bought a farm in Texas where he raised cattle and grew oranges. From 1957 he was active again as a musician in Houston. In 1972 he returned to Poland, but his health no longer allowed him to actively participate in musical life.
