Horst Rudolf Abe

Horst Rudolf Abe (born October 12, 1927 in Erfurt ; † February 27, 2006 there ) was a German medical historian at the Medical Academy in Erfurt .

Horst Rudolf Abe passed his Abitur in 1947 at the "Himmelspforte" (the later Heinrich-Mann-Gymnasium Erfurt ) and then studied until 1951 history , German and pedagogy at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . After the state examination in 1951, the doctorate followed in March 1953 with a thesis on the subject of Erfurt Humanism and its Time. The history of Erfurt humanism up to 1516 , reviewers were Friedrich Schneider and Karl Griewank . This was followed by a job as a freelance researcher at the City Council of Erfurt to set up a humanist memorial until 1954 . In 1955 he became a research assistant at the Medical Academy in Erfurt and from 1960 was initially entrusted with the establishment and then with the provisional management of the department for the history of medicine at the academy. In March 1966, he completed his habilitation on the subject of the history of the Erfurt Medical Faculty in the Age of Late Scholasticism and Humanism (1392-1524) ; the reviewers were Gerhard Heitz and Karl-Friedrich Olechnowitz . Abe then became a lecturer in the history of medicine at the academy and head of the same. He became professor in 1977 and retired in 1992. Abe was Vice President of the Academy of Nonprofit Sciences in Erfurt .

Abe dealt with the history of humanism and here in particular with the history of medicine and the academic history in the city of Erfurt, as well as with the further history of medicine.
