Hou Xuemei

Hou Xuemei ( Chinese  周雪梅 ; born February 27, 1962 in Zhejiang , People's Republic of China ) is a former Chinese athlete . Her specialty was the discus throw .

Athletic career

Hou Xuemei first appeared internationally at the 1986 Asian Games , which were held in the South Korean capital, Seoul . With 59.28 m she won the gold medal.

At the Universiade 1987 in Zagreb she was third with 64.04 m. With 58.26 m, she missed the final of the World Athletics Championships in 1987 in Rome by almost 60 cm.

At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 , she reached the final with 62.64 m, and 62.50 m were required in the qualification. In the final she rose to 65.94 m and finished 8th.

The 1989 Universiade was held in Duisburg . Huo Xuemei threw the target at 65.32 m and secured victory with this distance. At the Athletics World Cup in 1989 in Barcelona , she came in second with 66.04 m. So she had eight points for the Asian team, which reached sixth place in the final with 67.5 points. In 1990 she was able to defend her title at the Asian Games in Beijing with 63.56 m.

Hou Xuemei's best was 68.62 m, which she achieved in 1988.
