Valery Andrijtsev
Valery Oleksandrovytsch Andrijzew ( Ukrainian Валерій Олександрович Андрійцев ; born February 27, 1987 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR , USSR ) is a Ukrainian wrestler . He won at the Olympic Games 2012 in London a silver medal in free style in the light heavyweight division .
Career
Valery Andrijzew started wrestling in 1997 as a teenager. He focuses on free style and is a member of Dynamo Kiev . The student was or is being trained by Grigori Danko and Igor Malenski. So far he always started in the light heavyweight division, the weight class up to 96 kg body weight.
He achieved extraordinary success in his last junior year in 2007, because he was first in Belgrade in the light heavyweight junior European champion in front of William Harth from Germany and Jamaladdin Magomedow from Russia and then in Beijing in the same weight class also junior world champion in front of Alen Sasejew from Russia and Komeil Ghasemi from Iran .
In the senior sector, it took him a few years to place himself in the front field at international championships. Although he finished 2nd behind Ewgeni Kolomiets from Russia at the 2008 Universities World Cup in Thessaloniki , he had to make do with 20th place at the 2009 World Cup in Herning / Denmark after a defeat by Ruslan Scheikow from Belarus . He did a little better at the 2010 World Cup in Moscow . He came there to a victory over Johannes Kessel from Germany, but retired after a defeat in his next fight against Nicolai Ceban from Moldova and came in 13th place. In October 2010, however, in Turin, behind Salih Erinc, Turkey , he was again vice world champion among the students.
In 2011 he was not used in any international championships. In March 2012, however, he competed for the first time at a European Championship in Belgrade , where he finished second behind Abdussalam Gadissow from Russia and ahead of Serhat Balci from Turkey and Iwan Jankowski from Belarus. That was his first medal win at an international senior championship. The next followed at the Olympic Games in London. He won the silver medal there with victories over Rustam Iskandari, Tajikistan , Chetag Gasjumow from Azerbaijan and the 2011 world champion Reza Yazdani from Iran in a defeat in the final against Jakob Varner from the United States .
