Camaləddin Məhəmmədov
Camaləddin Məhəmmədov (internationally also Jamaladdin Magomedov ; born March 14, 1989 in Makhachkala , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler of Dagestan descent. He won a bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships and was runner-up in the free style heavyweight division in 2015 .
Career
Camaləddin Məhəmmədov grew up in Dagestan and started wrestling there in 1999, focusing on free style. He developed into one of the best young Russian wrestlers in the heavy weight classes. In 2007 and 2008 he also started for Russia in international championships and tournaments. In 2009 he moved to Azerbaijan and has been a member of the Ataspor Baku sports club since then . He was or is trained by Anwar Magomedgadschiew and Firdausi Umudow. Until 2010 he wrestled in the light heavyweight division , since 2011 in the heavyweight division. With a body weight of around 110 kg, however, he has not yet fully exhausted the weight limit.
In 2007 Camaləddin Məhəmmədov took part in the light heavyweight division at the European Junior Championships in Belgrade , where he finished third behind Valery Andrizew from Ukraine and William Harth from Germany . In 2008 he came at the Golden Grand Prix in Baku in the same weight class behind Kurban Kurbanow from Uzbekistan and before Eslami Abasar and Alireza Robat Moradi from Iran on the 2nd place.
In 2009, starting for Azerbaijan for the first time, he won his first international title at the European Junior Championships in Tbilisi in the light heavyweight division. He won there in front of Dibir Jalilow, Russia and Josef Javloviar from Slovakia . At the Junior World Championships this year in Ankara he lost to Arfan Amiri from Iran in the final and finished second ahead of Wladislaw Baisajew from Russia and Fatih Yasarli from Turkey. In 2010 he was not used by the Azerbaijani Wrestling Association at any international championships. But this year he finished at the Golden Grand Prix in Baku in the light heavyweight division behind his compatriot Chetag Gasjumow and in front of Georgi Gogschelidze and Belduki Gawaschelishwili, both from Georgia , again an excellent 2nd place.
In 2011 Camaləddin Məhəmmədov was first Azerbaijani heavyweight champion ahead of Aslan Dzebischow, Ali Magomeddabirow and Ali Issajew . He was then at the European Championship in Dortmund used and came there with wins over Rareş Daniel Chintojan , Romania , Ruslan Basijew , Armenia and Dawit Modsmanaschwili , Georgia, a defeat in the semi-final against Alexei Schemarow , Belarus and another victory in the fight for a bronze medal on Ioannis Arzoumanidis , Greece in 3rd place. He then won a bronze medal at the world championships in Istanbul that year . He won victories over Dániel Ligeti , Hungary , Dimitar Kumchev , Bulgaria and Deng Zhiwei from China . In the semifinals he lost to the Olympic champion and multiple world champion Biljal Machow from Russia. In the battle for the bronze medal he was finally able to defeat Dschargalsaichany Chuluunbat from Mongolia .
At the European Championships in Belgrade in 2012 he first won over Ruslan Basijew from Armenia, but had to admit defeat to the Bulgarian routier Dimitar Kumchev in his next fight, with which he was eliminated and only reached 11th place. Due to his good performance at the 2011 World Cup, Jamaladdin Magomedov was also able to compete at the 2012 Olympic Games in London . But there he lost his first fight against the former world champion Biljal Machow. Since he did not reach the final, he dropped out early and only came in 16th place.
In 2013 Camaləddin Məhəmmədov won a bronze medal in the heavyweight division at the European Championships in Tbilisi. He lost there in his first fight against Taha Akgül from Turkey, but defeated Dimitar Kumchev from Bulgaria and Daniel Ligeti from Hungary in the consolation round. At the 2013 World Cup in Budapest, he first defeated Jesse Ruiz Flores from Mexico and Chuluunbat Rargalsaichan from Mongolia, but lost in the quarter-finals against Alen Sasajew from Ukraine and in the consolation round against Taha Akgül. He came in 8th place.
In 2014 he only competed at the European Championships in Varna. He won there in the first round against Dimitrijs Mihailovs from Latvia, but lost in the next round to Dawit Modsmanashvili, which he eliminated and finished in 7th place.
2015 turned out to be the most successful year in Camaləddin Məhəmmdov's career so far. In June of this year he won a bronze medal at the 1st European Games in Baku after defeating Jonas Rudavicius from Lithuania, losing to Taha Agül and victories over Robert Baran from Poland and Soslan Gaglojew from Slovakia. At the World Cup in Las Vegas in September 2015, he defeated Mohamed Sabah Saklawe from Iraq, Nobuyoshi Arakida from Japan, Dschargalsaichany Chuluunbat and Geno Petriaschwili from Georgia. He was thus in the final against Taha Akgül, against whom he was defeated. Nevertheless, winning the World Cup silver medal was his greatest success so far.
