Václav Beneš Třebízský
Václav Beneš Třebízský (born February 27, 1849 in Třebíz , † June 20, 1884 in Mariánské Lázně ) was a Czech writer and Catholic priest .
Life
As the son of a tailor in Třebíz near Slaný , he studied in Slaný and Prague . In 1875 he was ordained a priest and worked first in Liteň near Beroun , then from 1876 in Klecany near Prague. He died of tuberculosis . The high school in Slaný still bears his name today.
Works
His novels are similar to those of Alois Jirásek . His favorite subject was the Hussite period , but he also devotes himself to other epochs of Bohemian history up to the beginning of the 19th century. Many stories take place in the area where he was born.
- Lost Souls (Bludné duše) is a novel set in the 18th century, during the uprising of 1775
- Queen Dagmar (Královna Dagmar) - the fate of Dagmar, daughter of the Bohemian king Vratislav I , who was later married to the Danish king Waldemar
