Theophylaktos Lakapenos
Theophylaktos Lakapenos (* 917 ; † February 27, 956 ) was Patriarch of Constantinople from 933 to 956 .
Life
Theophylaktos was born in 917 as the son of the Byzantine emperor Romanos I. Lakapenus and his wife Theodora.
On February 2, 933 he was named Patriarch of Constantinople. He actively supported his father's policies. Theophylactus tried to reach a broad agreement with Pope John XI.
Through him, theatrical elements were introduced into the Byzantine rite of worship. Theophylactus was fond of amusements such as horse riding. He died on February 27, 956 after falling from his horse.
