Ernst Hottenroth
Ernst Joseph Hottenroth (born March 12, 1872 in Frankfurt am Main , † February 27, 1908 in Dresden ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Hottenroth was born the son of the sculptor Joseph Hottenroth . He took up his father's profession and initially worked in Berlin as a stonemason under Otto Lessing on the plastic decoration of the Reichstag building , later as an assistant in a stucco workshop, for which he independently directed ornamental work at the New Marstall in Berlin and at the Central Theater in Dresden. Hottenroth went into business for himself in Dresden and supplied the plastic jewelry for numerous buildings.
Hottenroth last lived in the house at Dürerplatz 3 in Dresden. He died here in 1908 and was buried in the Old Catholic Cemetery in Dresden's Friedrichstadt .

- 1900: ornamentation in the interior of the Kreuzkirche in Dresden (removed after 1945 to 1955)
- 1900: Ornaments at the Central Theater in Dresden, Waisenhausstrasse (destroyed in 1945)
- 1901: Plastic jewelry on the new Sächsische Handelsbank building in Dresden, Waisenhausstrasse (destroyed in 1945)
- 1901: Ornaments on the building of the Kunstgewerbeschule and Kunstgewerbemuseum in Dresden-Johannstadt, Güntzstraße
- 1904: plastic jewelry on the mausoleum for the Dresden entrepreneur Bruno Naumann in Königsbrück (in collaboration with architect Oskar Menzel ; under monument protection)
- 1905–1907: Facade decorations at the district court in Dresden, Münchner Platz
- 1906: Arcades with lion heads at the Estates building in Dresden
- 1907: Groups of figures and reliefs on the portals of the 24th district school in Dresden-Striesen, Haydnstraße 49 (used by the Martin-Andersen-Nexö-Gymnasium since 2008 )
