Martina Dubovská (born February 27, 1992 Třinec , ČSFR ) is a Czech - Slovak ski racer . The multiple Czech champion and World Cup participant specializes in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom .

biography

Martina Dubovská was born to a Slovak father and a Czech mother in the Moravian-Silesian town of Třinec . She learned to ski at the age of two in the High Tatras . She grew up in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia, and started working for her father's home country in her youth. Due to better funding, it was finally decided to switch to the Czech association.

At the age of 15 she competed in her first FIS races and celebrated her first victories in Australia only a little later . On December 10th, 2010 she made her debut in the European Cup , in which she still has a 13th place - achieved in March 2016 in the slalom of La Molina - as the best result. In total, she took part in the Junior World Championships five times and achieved her best results in Québec in 2013 with ranks eleven and 22 in slalom and giant slalom. The following winter she won the bronze medal in slalom at the Universiade in Pozza di Fassa .

Dubovská made her World Cup debut on February 4, 2011 in the Zwiesel slalom . Two weeks later, she started at the World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where she reached 54th place in giant slalom, and was eliminated in slalom. At the World Championships in Schladming , she finished 35th and 39th in slalom and giant slalom. She won her first World Cup points in November 2013 with rank 28 in the slalom of Levi , when she qualified for the decision with the high starting number 64. In February 2014 she classified herself in the Olympic slalom in Krasnaja Poljana as 22nd. At the end of the season she was crowned Czech slalom champion for the first time in the absence of Šárka Strachová . After three more places in the points, she achieved her best World Cup result to date on December 29, 2016 at Semmering with 18th place. At the World Championships in St. Moritz , she finished 32nd in her favorite discipline.

After two placements among the top 30 in winter 2017/18 , she started in both technical races at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . In slalom she reached rank 29, in giant slalom she was eliminated. With the Czech team she finished tied for ninth place.
