Hans Siburg

Hans Siburg (born June 24, 1893 in Saarburg , † February 27, 1976 in Lüneburg ) was a German officer, most recently General of the Air Force Aviators in World War II .
Life
Siburg joined the Imperial Navy on April 1, 1912 and served as a sea aviator during World War I when he was taken prisoner by Russia in 1916. After his release in 1917 and the later end of the war, he stayed with the now renamed Reichsmarine . After he was promoted to lieutenant captain on May 1, 1925 , he was appointed corvette captain on July 1, 1930 .
On September 1, 1933, he moved to the Reich Ministry of Aviation as a lieutenant colonel to take over a department. On June 1, 1934, he took over the office of inspector of the schools before he became commander of the Aviation School See in Warnemünde on June 8 . On February 1, 1936 he went to the Tutow Fliegergruppe, then from March 15 to the Merseburg Fliegergruppe, where he was promoted to colonel . On April 1, 1936, he took over Kampfgeschwader 153, later Kampfgeschwader 3, as a squad commodore . On September 1, he changed to the staff of the air district command VII as first general staff officer . On November 1, 1938, he took over a bomber squadron again as a commodore with Kampfgeschwader 257. This squadron, renamed as Kampfgeschwader 26 on May 1, 1939 , had its focus on naval warfare. Siburg led this squadron with his Heinkel He 111 during the raid on Poland , before he became inspector for flight navigation, blind flight and weather service in the General Staff of the Air Force on September 29 . On May 6, 1940 he became Chief of Staff of the Luftgau Command Norway , which was subordinate to Luftflotte 5 in Oslo . But on July 1, 1940, he moved to the German-occupied Netherlands to take on the post of commanding general and commander in Luftgau Holland. On November 1, 1940, he was promoted to Lieutenant General and on April 1, 1942 to General der Flieger. Not until August 7, 1943 did he move to the Reich Aviation Ministry as head of the Air Force Administration Office. There he received the German Cross in Gold on March 20, 1944 , before he was available without a task from April 1, 1945 . On May 10, 1945, he was taken prisoner by the British and was released on December 5, 1945.
