Ernst Pfeiffer (writer)

Ernst Pfeiffer (born December 17, 1876 in Breslau , † February 27, 1942 in Berlin ) was a German writer and journalist .

Life

Pfeiffer was the founder of the monarchist magazine “ Der Aufrechte ” (at the same time its editor-in-chief and publisher ) and the “ Bund der Aufrechte ”. He lived in Berlin , came from the Stocker Movement and was socially minded. Heinrich von Massenbach wrote about him ( Tradition and Life . No. 156, p. 5):

“Avoiding all bigotry, an evangelical Christian without narrow-mindedness, he put his work under the motto: 'I serve'.” Even during the Nazi regime, he “remained true to his convictions, his faith helped him over all disappointments. [...] Pfeiffer and his colleagues in the magazine advocated the almost hushed monarchical idea a few weeks after the dark November days of 1918, when the opponents of the Hohenzollern ruled the field. "

In 1938 Pfeiffer was arrested by the Gestapo .

Ernst Pfeiffer was married, his widow and sister Elisabeth were killed in an air raid towards the end of the Second World War .
