Platt Adams (born March 23, 1885 in Belleville , † February 27, 1961 in Normandy Beach , New Jersey ) was an American athlete and Olympic champion .

Life

At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 , he won 1.63 m in the standing vault in front of his brother Ben Adams . The Adams brothers were the first pair of athletics brothers to win gold and silver in the same discipline, and the second ever, after shooters John Paine and Sumner Paine in 1896.

In the standing long jump in 1912 the Greek Kostas Tsiklitiras won ahead of Platt and Ben Adams. After these games, the jumps were canceled from the Olympic program.
