Hans Bambey

Hans Bambey (born February 27, 1915 in Darmstadt , † February 21, 1997 in Bad Godesberg ) was a German officer in the air force of the Wehrmacht and later in the air force of the Bundeswehr . He retired as brigadier general .

Life

Hans Bambey studied psychology and education from 1933 to 1936 to become a teacher. On October 1, 1936, he began his military service in the Air Force and served in the I. Department of Flak Regiment 3 in Luftkreis III . After he was appointed lieutenant on March 1, 1939 , he moved to the re-established II. Division of Flak Regiment 23 of the 23rd Flak Division until April 1940 . During the Second World War he remained with the Luftwaffe flak troops with different functions and changed his troop frequently. On December 1, 1941 he was promoted to lieutenant and on August 1, 1943 to captain . In between he received the German Cross in Gold . On October 1, 1944, he switched to Luftkriegsschule 2 in Berlin-Gatow before joining the 30th Flak Division on April 6, 1945 , where the war ended.

Then worked from 1948 to 1955 as a primary school teacher. In 1956 he joined the German Air Force. As a colonel , he led the staff of the 4th Air Defense Division from November 1, 1962 to December 3, 1963. When this was renamed the 4th Air Force Division from December 4, 1963, he remained Chief of Staff until November 30, 1964. He retired as brigadier general.
