Oskar Audörsch

Oskar Audörsch (born February 27, 1898 in Colbiehnen , Rastenburg district , † June 5, 1991 in Ulm ) was a German major general .

Life

Audörsch joined the Infantry Regiment “Generalfeldmarschall von Mackensen” (3rd West Prussian) No. 129 of the Prussian Army during the First World War on November 1, 1916 . After completing the Fahnenjunker course in Döberitz, he was promoted to lieutenant on November 20, 1917 and transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 477 on the Western Front on January 19, 1918 . After the war he served in the " Hasse " Freikorps and was later taken over by the Reichswehr . During his military service, Audörsch studied from 1930 to 1933 at the Technical University of Charlottenburg ( graduate engineer ).

Of 26 August 1940 to 13 January 1942 he was commander of the Rifle Regiment 394. Until 10 July 1944 he served as head of the Weapons Department, Office Group "Industrial Armor", in the Army High Command (Wa I Rü / Science and Health 6 ) active. Here he was promoted to colonel on February 1, 1942 and was awarded the German Cross in Gold on April 21, 1943 . After training to become a division commander in the Führerreserve , he formally commanded the 25th Panzer Division from August 1944, first as a deputy, then from November 9, 1944 to May 1945 while being promoted to major general .

After the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht , Audörsch was first captured by the US on May 8, 1945, from which he was transferred to the custody of the Soviet Union . His release from prisoner of war camp 5110/48 Woikowo on October 9, 1955 brought him back to Germany as a late returnee .

Oskar Audörsch died on June 5, 1991 in Ulm.
