Edward Dembowski
Edward Dembowski (born May 31, 1822 , † February 27, 1846 ) was a Polish publicist, philosopher and revolutionary.
The son of a conservative castellan in Congress Poland became a supporter of Young Hegelianism and theoretician of the agrarian revolution. He published the magazine Przegląd Naukowy and from 1844 developed a lively conspiratorial activity in Galicia . In 1846 he was one of the leading leaders of the Cracow uprising and became secretary Jan Tyssowskis , who had declared himself dictator on February 24th. He was the driving force behind the uprising in Krakow itself and raised an army of six thousand volunteers within three days. In order to stop the train of Ukrainian peasants supported by the Austrians on Cracow, he organized a procession with church flags on February 27, during which he was shot by Austrian troops.
