Chimeri came to Argentina in the early 1950s to take part in the popular Temporadas. In 1960 he drove the Argentine Grand Prix on a Maserati 250F that he had entered . After problems with the electrics, he had to give up the race early. One week after the Grand Prix, the Formula Libre race took place, with Chimeri finishing fourth.
Two weeks later he had a fatal accident while training for a sports car race in Cuba . Chimeri's car broke through a barrier and came to rest 150 meters from the track. Chimeri was flown to a hospital by helicopter, but died a few hours later.
