Heimo Erbse (born February 27, 1924 in Rudolstadt ; † September 22, 2005 in Baden near Vienna ) was a German-Austrian composer and opera director.

Life

After receiving musical training in Weimar in the subjects of flute, conducting and opera directing, Erbse was a director at various German opera houses from 1947 to 1950 , after which he worked as a freelance composer and mainly worked for film and theater productions.

From 1957 until his death he lived in Austria .

A prize for rock music from Salzburg is being financed from Heimo Erbse's estate.
