Nicole Reinhardt (born January 2, 1986 in Lampertheim ) is a former German canoeist . In 2008 she became Olympic champion in canoe racing .

Career

Nicole Reinhardt began her career at WSV Lampertheim and at the state performance base in Mannheim . At the 2005 World Championships in Zagreb she became world champion in single kayaks over 500 m and in four-person kayaks over 200 m. At the 2007 World Championships in Duisburg brought them together with Fanny Fischer in double kayak World Championship gold over 200 and 500 meters.

The following year, she qualified for participation in the Summer Olympics in Beijing . There she became Olympic champion in a four-man kayak over the 500-meter distance together with Fanny Fischer , Katrin Wagner-Augustin and Conny Waßmuth , and in a two-man kayak over the same distance she came fourth with Fanny Fischer. For winning the gold medal, she received the silver laurel leaf from Federal President Köhler.

At the 2011 World Championships in Szeged, Reinhardt became world champion in single kayaks over 500 m for the second time in her career. For health reasons, she had to do without the Olympic Games in London.

Reinhardt won gold 16 times at world and European championships. In 2008 she was elected Sportswoman of the Year in Hessen. The city of Lampertheim made her an honorary citizen. In 2013 she announced her retirement from competitive sports.
