Silke Hörmann

Silke Hörmann (born January 26, 1986 in Karlsruhe ) is a German canoeist .

The canoe racer of the Rheinbrüder Karlsruhe was junior European champion in 2002 and 2004 in a four-person kayak over 500 m. At the 2006 World Championships in Szeged , she was runner-up in the four-man kayak over 1000 m, but was then unable to qualify for the senior national team. She still belongs to the perspective cadre (CP cadre) of the German Canoe Association . In 2010 she made the leap into the national team and won the silver medal with Carolin Leonhardt at the 2010 Canoe Racing World Championships in Poznan in a two-man kayak over 1000 m . In 2011 Hörmann won the silver medal at the 39th World Championships in Szeged in a four-person kayak over 500 m with Carolin Leonhardt, Franziska Weber and Tina Dietze . At the European Championships in Zagreb in 2012 , Hörmann won the silver medal in 1000 m. Hörmann is part of the 2012 Olympic squad. She competes in the K1 500 m women discipline.

Hörmann lives in Karlsruhe and works as a media designer .

Her older sister Judith Hörmann is also an internationally successful canoeist and was part of the national team at the same time in 2005 and 2006, but without being used in the same boat with her.
