The 44th Canoe Racing World Championship took place from August 22nd to 26th, 2018 in the Portuguese city of Montemor-o-Velho .
The World Championship was organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF), the venue was the Centro de Alto Rendimento of the Portuguese Canoe Association Federação Portuguesa de Canoagem , the Centro Náutico de Montemor-o-Velho .
There were 30 competitions in the canoe and kayak disciplines . The distances of the regattas were 200 m, 500 m and 1000 m. Paracanoe was again part of the official competition program. About 850 athletes from 66 nations took part, 150 of them paracanoids.
