Viktor Sergejewitsch Melantjew ( Russian Виктор Сергеевич Мелантьев ; born June 2, 1986 in Brjuchowezkaja , Krasnodar region , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian canoeist , world champion and European champion.

Athletic career

In 2008 Melantjew took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing and took eighth place (C-1 1000 m).

At the 2009 World Championships in Dartmouth , Melantjew won a gold (C-1 4 × 200 m relay), a silver (C-4 200 m) and a bronze medal (C-2 1000 m; with Nikolai Lipkin ). Two years later he won a gold medal (C-1 4 × 200 m relay) at the World Championships in Szeged . At the 2013 World Championships in Duisburg, Melantjew won two gold medals (C-2 500 m; with Iwan Schtyl and C-1 200 m relay m) and one silver medal (C-2 1000 m; with Ilja Pervuchin ). In 2014 he won a gold medal in Moscow (C-4 1000 m). In 2017 in Plovdiv he became world champion again together with Ivan Schtyl (C-2 500 m).

Melantjew was European and Russian champions several times.
