The 2nd Canoe Racing World Championships took place in London ( United Kingdom ) in 1948 .
Medals were awarded in five disciplines of canoe racing: four men's kayaking competitions and one women's kayaking competition. The women's race distance was reduced from 600 to 500 meters.
These were the first canoe racing world championships after the Second World War .
